Public documents and reporting

What's changed in the public record?

Relevant decisions, proposed facilities, service matters and price documents, each with its source and date. News coverage and election-night returns are labeled separately from final government findings.

November 3, 2026 • State election-night returns

County voters supported private-sewer oversight

Alabama Votes' unofficial count shows 87,663 Yes (62.66%) and 52,245 No (37.34%) for Madison County's local amendment, with 100% of precincts reporting. The legislation concerns PSC oversight of qualifying private sewer systems. Certified returns and implementation for individual systems are separate questions.

October 1, 2026 • Public wastewater charges

Madison Utilities' 2026 wastewater rate schedule took effect

For a standard 5/8-inch residential wastewater meter inside Madison city limits, the posted schedule specifies a $10.66 monthly base and $7.95 per 1,000 gallons. Other customer classes and outside-city rates differ. This is a public-service comparison point, not Integra's tariff or a predicted price after an acquisition.

September 3, 2026 • Local news reporting

Integra withdrew the proposed New Market discharge application

WAFF reported withdrawal of the permit application after opposition to the proposed facility. The report includes the company's response. A permit withdrawal is not itself an enforcement finding or resolution of customer billing concerns.

April 30, 2026 • Local news reporting

Homeowners sought to stop the New Market facility

WAFF reported a lawsuit by local homeowners. We have not verified the original docket or final court disposition. The lawsuit concerns the proposed treatment facility, not an audited count of existing-customer service complaints.

September 2025 • Official agency notice

ADEM published the proposed wastewater permit hearing

ADEM identified Integra Water Madison County, LLC and proposed NPDES permit AL0084447 for an October 14, 2025 public hearing. An agency notice is evidence of a proposed permit and hearing, not a finding of misconduct.

Corrections and source standards

What we correct, and how

An earlier pricing explanation connected wastewater charges with a different utility's rate structure without sufficient support. That inference was withdrawn. We use official wastewater schedules for public comparisons and never publish private household bills or identifying details.

Dates identify the record's effective or reporting date. Claims are updated when authoritative records establish something new. See our billing comparison methodology →
