We’ve launched a public petition calling on Madison County to seriously investigate alternatives to Integra Water’s privately operated sewer service.

The numbers, up front

What do published wastewater rates show?

Madison Utilities provides a public wastewater benchmark. It is not the rate Integra customers pay, nor a quote for replacing private service.

MADISON UTILITIES • PUBLIC WASTEWATER REFERENCE $58.36 / month

6,000 gallons • standard residential • inside Madison city limits • 5/8″ meter

Official tariff effective October 1, 2026 · Reviewed November 4, 2026
INTEGRA • MADISON COUNTY WASTEWATER No verified local rate sheet

Integra publicly lists multiple payment methods, but a verified local tariff, payment surcharges and system-specific terms are still missing. WAFF reported one Meridianville customer's January 1 increase notice; that is not a countywide rate sheet.

FEES ARE PART OF THE BILLDon't overlook payment charges.

The amount of Integra's local card or convenience charge is unverified. Any fee comparison must include payment-method charges where applicable.

Newly documented local evidence

The records reveal more, with important limits.

Official housing allowances and an Integra optional-service agreement add useful evidence without pretending to be the company's complete price schedule.

01. Clear, complete bills02. Reliable wastewater service03. Accountable decisions

Why this matters

Wastewater service should answer to the people paying for it.

Integra operates private wastewater systems in the area. Residents have an interest in understanding full charges, service performance and the rules governing decisions. Local reporting now documents a customer's recurring rate concerns and the company's explanation, while the election-night oversight vote creates a potential new regulatory path, not automatic lower bills. This campaign seeks transparency now and a serious, independent evaluation of public service options. Read the newest rate reporting →

Every charge explained

Base rates, volume charges, annual increases, convenience fees and other payment costs belong in a complete comparison.

02 / SERVICE

Concerns backed by records

Facility proposals, maintenance issues, complaints and company responses need clear sources and fair attribution.

03 / ACCOUNTABILITY

Residents need a voice

Regulatory oversight matters. Public operation or ownership deserves a transparent feasibility review, not an unsupported promise.

What the public record establishes

Separate the facts from the questions.

Official actions, reporting and resident experiences are different kinds of evidence. We label each one so a concern is not mistaken for a government finding.

PUBLIC TARIFF

Madison Utilities publishes wastewater charges.

A real public rate schedule offers a benchmark. It cannot, by itself, tell us the cost of acquiring or operating Integra-served systems.

STATE ELECTION-NIGHT RETURNS

62.66% voted Yes on the local oversight measure.

All precincts reported in the November 3 unofficial count. Certification and which systems qualify for PSC coverage still require verification.

REPORTED LOCAL DISPUTE

A New Market facility application was withdrawn.

WAFF reported the withdrawal after residents opposed the proposal. The withdrawal does not establish a service violation or resolve every related concern.

What we're asking for

A real evaluation of accountable sewer service.

Replacing private service is the long-term possibility we want taken seriously. The immediate request is a transparent assessment, not a promise that public ownership automatically lowers bills.

01

Publish all rates and fees

Current and historical tariffs, payment charges, billing rules and the service areas they apply to.

02

Review service and facilities

Relevant performance, maintenance, capacity, complaint response and regulatory records.

03

Study publicly accountable alternatives

Legal pathways, acquisition or operating costs, funding, service standards and public oversight.

An independent feasibility assessment should identify the costs, risks and authority needed before any public-service transition. What a responsible assessment should examine →

Resident experiences

Local service should be accountable to local people.

Residents' observations can help identify questions worth investigating. They are individual accounts, not independently verified findings or a representative survey.
